Edit 2: Adding my solution — while game is launched, alt+tab and right click on volume icon. Click “open volume mixer” and check that all levels are adequate. In my case Farming Simulator was set super low relative to all other volume settings. Adjusting FS to be in line with the others fixed the problem.
