ktm 1190 adventure r vs 1290
What a beast, I thought to myself as I put my first few miles on the 2022 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. In retrospect, that thought kind of made sense given the fact that the mill tucked beneath the 1290’s new tank design is an iteration of the Super Duke’s 1301cc V-Twin – the naked bike dubbed by KTM marketing folks as “the beast.” And beastly it is. Also I like the non-semi active suspension better since it's having better upgrade options. One can safely go from the 21/18" on the SAR to a 19/17" without upsetting geometry/trail. Just like going from 19" ti 17" on the SAS. But going from 21" to 17" on the SAR will need offset yokes or fork bottom end. I have had previously two different KTM (1190 Adv R, 1290 Adv T) never used OEM replacements. As you suggest EBC Double Sintered seeks to be my weapon of choice. Actually, KTM has a newer, larger ADV model than the 1190 Adventure. The 1290 Super Adventure has taken over this mantle, as it includes a larger 7.9-gallon gasoline tank, WP semi-active suspension, cruise control, and a plethora of other amenities (with the exception of a shaft final drive). Wet weight another 30 lbs or so with all your fluids. The 1090 makes a peak 127 hp the 1290 160 hp. In off road mode they are both limited to 100 hp. The 1290 a little more peaky in performance the 1090 more tractable. The big big difference is street available HP and the electronics packages on the bike.
